Must be nice only having two real competitive teams in your division every season. |
No kidding.
Aces lose game 5 to go down 3-2 as we head back to Appalachian for Game 6. Game 3 winner Adam McDade will be pitching Game 6 and if necessary, Aces number one starter and Game 4 winner Matt Numbers will get the ball in game 7. _________________ CSFBL CCH - Las Vegas Aces

Congrats andujar. Carolina wins the Gibson Division 4 games to 2, though the series was much closer than that, as several games were decided by only a key hit (or lack of one) here or there.
Looks like I made the wrong decision giving Colvard the start. Hua should've been the starter, but still needed one more day of rest, so I started the rookie hoping he could give me 5 or so decent innings to start the game, and then have Hua finish it off, but that didn't happen. Carolina got over Colvard early, and never looked back, in route to winning the game 9-2.
Hopefully one of these years I won't be fighting for a playoff spot up to the final game of the season, and can plan my playoff rotation (and rest some hitters) a little better. Being able to pitch Clyde Anderson three times in the series rather than two would've be huge, but I needed him this year just to hold off New Haven to even make the playoffs.
Anyways, best of luck to all teams left in the playoffs. Haha, poor cf4l. _________________ WPS |

the CSFBL Sims are to biased, there is no way in he double hockey sticks both Doherty and Snapp blow up like that your talking 2 ACES, its like if 2 of a Smolt/maddux/Glavine combo blow up in the playoffs in their prime..it just dont happen
well, more youth could be on the way soon.
Artie Correa if he develops right he could be the replacement for german catchings, a guy who should anchor ANY rotation, Carolina might wish they didn't trade Richmond this arm
I'm not saying he could be Byron Wilson but if he develops right he could give him a run for his money
Daniel Hall
and
Mark Outlaw
could be the bullpen arms Richmond needs, one majoring in power, one in finesse, they could provide help for Richmonds Bullpen in 2029.
John Cannon
Benny Wheeler
William Stephens
the Outfield of the future, I'm giving these 3 as much time they need to get fully ready, they all should help this team at some point and I don't want to jeopardize their future by rushing them. _________________

Playoffs are a crapshoot. Anything can happen at any time. Welcome to my life.
Aces prepare for crucial game 7
Aces starter Adam McDade didn't have a place to pitch when the 2028 season started, and little did he expect to be in the position he has ended up being. McDade has been the best of Las Vegas' pitching staff, posting a pair of wins, one in game 3 and one at the noon sim in game 6.
"Coach showed a lot of faith in me when he posted that game 6 lineup on the board," said McDade who was solid, but not outstanding in his first season in Vegas. "I just went out there and did my job and hoped at that these guys behind me would provide the necessary defense and offense to give us the win and take us to game 6."
They did. While McDade would allow 3 runs over 8 innings before handing the ball off to rookie closer James Whitesell who took Appalachian down in the 9th, the Aces would score 5, on the power of 4-time All Star center fielder Tim Footman's pair of home runs.
In game 7, Aces manager Denny Reynolds has elected to make a change, going with the Aces best road pitcher Andy Poston as the starter over staff ace Matt Numbers. "I was talking to Matt after game 6 we decided that he just wasn't ready to throw another game," said Reynolds in his third season as Aces manager. "Our plan is to go with Andy, have Matt in the bullpen if he's needed and hopefully be in a position to win the game late with our offense, which I'd put up against anyone's."
"When I heard that I'd been traded and was heading to Las Vegas over the offseason, I was excited that this team could be in the situation. Pitching has always been the weak spot of this Vegas club and here I am being relied on to go out there and throw a good game," says Poston who is in his first season with the Aces. Thanks no1. It was a battle, 5 very close games in there. The playoffs really are a crapshoot, the favorite is rarely more than 70% to win. And we were pretty well 50/50. I've said it since his draft day, Anderson is a beast. The battle for the wildcard certainly was important. Age has to catch up with Carolina soon. Most of the starters and several regulars are well over 30...
cf4l: where to start... some corrections... pitchers have bad outings all the time. Even fake sim players are not robots. Correa has a long way to go to be Catchings. Carolina traded you the draft pick, you chose Correa. We had him ranked in the 30s originally. Byron Wilson has been the best pitcher in this league since I've joined (2007) and you will be hard pressed to find a better pitcher in CSFBL right now. He's a shutdown starter with endurance to start 40 times a season. If we weren't at 8/day, he probably would start that many. I wouldn't trade him for Doherty and Snapp right now.
The other 4 teams in the Musial will be good before long. That is how the game works... and somebody has Rivera, Yancey, Stevenson and Rowlett down there.
Nobody has mentioned this, but the playoffs feature the same 8 teams this season. Only East Side is not a repeat LCS team.
I liked what McDade brought to Carolina. He just ended up being the odd man odd. His release was nowhere near as bad as Burns a few seasons ago. Burns will probably be a HoFer. William Lewis was a FA pickup as well, sorry Rolen27fan. _________________

Are you serious? Correa will be a very good defender at the position, but he won't develop anywhere close to Byron Wilson. _________________ WPS |

Agreed, he'd be lucky to have his best season be close to Wilson's worst. Wilson's built for longer term success because of his finesse and control, Correa will flame in his late 20s, but will fall off because that fastball is his #1 pitch. Correa would be solid, but I don't think he'll be deserving of being a #1 pitcher in a rotation. I'd rate him a very solid #3 option, maybe a 2.
I'd ask if I could change Correa to a short stop. Seems a waste to have that good of a defender on the mound.
Aces cut ties with Kline and Cummings
Just a day after the Aces lost game 7 of their divisional championship series, the team wasted no time in beginning their planning for 2029. The team announced today that it would cut ties with C Stephen Kline after 20 seasons with the franchise after being selected with the second overall pick in 2007. In 20 seasons with the club, Kline hit .255 with 318 HR and 974 RBI. He was also a 5-time All Star selection at catcher.
It also announced that 39 year old 2B Sergio Cummings would be hitting the free agent market as well. Cummings had spent 7 seasons with the Aces. A successful starter in Saskatchewan, Cummings would only fill a utility player role in Las Vegas.
Cummings and Kline are said to be considering retirement.
The pair will be replaced by a pair of 24 year olds on the roster. C James Bunnell hit .231 in 3 games this season with 1 RBI and 2B Kenneth Turner who hit .000 in 3 games with the Aces this season. _________________ CSFBL CCH - Las Vegas Aces

Raiders and 'topes. Game 7 at midnight. Winner to the WS vs Carolina.
Carolina got by the Badbirds in 6. Every game was tight or decided in the late innings except the Game 4 shutout. _________________

I will be out of town for half of next week. Good luck to East Side in representing the Musial division in the WS. At least hopefully the Crimsons would've been swept by a WS champion. Although a couple wins making it at least interesting was the least I could ask for.
Guess I got more work to do. My obvious thorn is pitching. I need to trade for some.
Sean Glover may be the biggest name available.
William Hannah has astounding potential. But patience is running out. Perhaps a DH role will get him back on track, a position the Crimsons may permanently commit Kenneth Thomas to.
Gregory Christman surprised many with his flawless performance at closer delivering 43 saves with no blown saves at all and a 1.11 ERA.
I am also willing to hear offers on other players such as Warren Sanchez, Chu Sanders, or Gabriel Hamilton to name a few.
In return I ask for pitching, pitching, and pitching. Young, unknown talent are welcome although I would prefer first rounders.
Shoot me a PM if you have ideas and I would check them all when I get back.
Does Carolina have any pitchers to spare? Andujar says I do not have enough Carolina players. Ha.
As for the season and division - I am not giving up! I am still waiting for my first WS appearance. East Side has shown to be a thorn of a rival. As for the four other teams, I hope they are active. If my team is not meant to be a 90 win team, then I wish my division opponents would expose my true colors since my divisional record is keeping me low in the draft picks making that completely a challenge in building a postseason contender.
Anyway, should there be team shuffling around the league, keep Jacksonville and East Side together. It would be like splitting up the Redskins and Cowboys. Someday I will run out of panties and East Side will have no panties to raid _________________

realignment isn't coming to CSFBL anytime soon. Although it is talked about for CSBB.
I'd be interested in Glover in the offseason. I'm not sure how many prospects I have left as I've scattered them around the league lately. _________________

Congrats to Carolina on their World Series victory.
East Side is looking to make a repeat visit to the Championship round this year and will be trying to make some deals this offseason. _________________ "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Thanks. I'm glad the series end before the sims stopped. I don't think I needed the series to go 7 or get stranded with six games in. That happened to me in a 7th Inning Stretch WS and my team ended up winning the WS 5-2. Yeah, 5. Odd.
That East Side offense is scary. The old staff held together nicely and the bullpen was a nice luxury. Pitts stepped up big when fatigue was an issue. Nice to see Lester and Davis reunited in the WS. _________________
