Winter Warm-Up Basics
The Cardinals Care Winter Warm-Up: In a Nutshell
Essentially a "Cardinals convention", the annual Winter Warm-Up is a special off-season event for Cardinals fans and fund-raiser for the
Cardinals Care organization. It is a three-day event held in downtown St. Louis in January, typically scheduled for the weekend preceding Martin
Luther King Day. The Winter Warm-Up gives fans an opportunity to meet those from the Cardinals organization, including most of the players,
team owners, Fredbird. It also features numerous interactive or Q&A presentations from those in the Cardinals organization, a fun room
for kids with tons of booths and games, a huge vendor and shopping area, and ballpark food to eat.
When and where is the 2008 Winter Warm-Up?
The 2008 Winter Warm-Up is Saturday, January 19th through Monday, January 21th at the Millennium Hotel in downtown St. Louis.
Millennium Hotel
Phone: 314-241-9500
Address: 200 South 4th Street, St. Louis, MO, USA 63102
How much does the Warm-Up cost?
The price for a three-day pass for fans 16 and over is $40. Kids 5 to 15 are $10 (subject to change), while kids under 5 are free.
It's a bit steep, but remember that all proceeds go to the Cardinals Care foundation for children.
Stadium-style foods (brats, dogs, burgers) are readily available inside the Warm-Up area for prices at or just below stadium prices.
There are tons of other ways to spend your hard earned money as well, including in the vendor area, the silent auctions, or by purchasing tickets to meet
past and present Cardinal players and personalities. See individual player prices below.
How do I meet the players?
Anyone can meet the Cardinal players and personalities making themselves available at the Warm-Up. This is done by purchasing a ticket to see the people you want to meet.
The price of each ticket varies, usually based on the popularity of the individual. For example, expect a rookie player or bench to cost $10-$30 (or even free)
and the starters to run all the way up to ~$100 or more. Ticket availability is always limited -- some of the players' tickets sell out in mere minutes. If there is a
specific player who you absolutely must see, plan on getting in the ticket line early on Saturday morning.
All the celebrity meet-and-greets are scheduled. On the day and time the person you want to meet is available you will use your ticket to get in the appropriate
line. For the most popular players you can expect a wait of at least 45 minutes once you get in line. The celebrity will sign one item for you, most will personalize it
if you ask. On rare occassions there may be restrictions on what they are allowed to sign -- jerseys have been a problem in the past, for whatever reason.
You'll have a brief moment to chat with the celebrity so be sure to have something to say! Be sure to bring your camera and get a picture with them as well.
